Security

Bangladesh is gearing up for its national elections, which will take place at the end of December this year. Visitors are advised to avoid places where political meetings or processions are taking place.

Participants will mainly be staying at three large NGO campuses – the BRAC training centre, the HOPE centre and the Gonoshshthaya Kendra. The venue of the PHA4 will be the Gono Bishswabidyalaya university campus situated adjacent to the GK campus.

All the places where participants will be staying are large gated campuses with their own security. Local government security agencies have been informed about the event and will provide security as well.

Participants are advised that there have been some physical skirmishes in the Gonoshshthaya Kendra over a land dispute in the past month. Currently the campus is peaceful and the disruptions appear to have subsided. However, participants are advised to be guided by local volunteers regarding security issues and also report to volunteers if they perceive any threats.

Catering

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for all participants of PHA4. All catering will be locally flavoured. Vegetarian will be available.

Tea and coffee will be available for purchase from local vendors.

To avoid plastic pollution, we encourage all to bring a re-usable water bottle that can be filled can you drink tap water? If not, probably worth saying so

Venue

The PHA4 will take place at The University of Gono Bishwabidyalay and at the PHA building – Gonoshasthaya Kendra.

Registration will take place at the PHA building. All PHA4 sessions will take place at the University of Gono Bishwabidyalay while catering and other activities will take place at Gonoshastaya Kendra. Both venues are walking distance apart.

Timetable

The program of PHA4 starts on 15th of November at 9am and ends with an open public event 17h on 19th of November.

Interpretation

The sessions will be in Spanish, French, Bangla and English. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided for these languages during the plenaries, sub plenaries and thematic discussions. If you would like to organise whispering interpretation for your delegation into another language, we can provide the interpretation equipment. Please let us know as soon as possible and before 31 October: write to sbarria {@} phmovement.org.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided by FM Radio through your personal mobile phones (normal mobile phone or smart phone). If your mobile phone does not have FM radio, we will provide an alternative devise for the period of the assembly. Do bring your own ear-plugs!
