Crises such as these make the need for universal access to health systems all the more clear. Brazil is one of the few countries in the Global South that has this system – The Unified Health System (SUS). Despite its challenges, SUS has already given enough evidence that it is the best option. The COVID-19 crisis only reinforces the argument about the importance of a public and universal health system, with sufficient resources, to respond to crises and ensure efficient care.
